Information Technology and Telecom
Information technology and telecom are very important for Karlskrona’s budget. In the 1990’s the city has put a lot of effort into these subjects, and it’s paying off. TelecomCity is a network in Karlskrona that works exactly with this kind of stuff. The network contains about 50 companies within information technology and telecom. The municipality of Karlskrona works together with TelecomCity, just as Blekinge Tekniska Högskola (Blekinge Institute of Technology, a university) does.

Other sources of income
The closeness to the ocean makes it possible for the city to gain money by cruises and other similar things. The tourism is very important, and Karlskrona invests a lot to make more people visit the town.

Lately, Karlskrona has put more and more effort into sports and athletics, which hopefully is a new thing the town will be famous for. The municipality of Karlskrona and Vasallen AB are working on making Arena Rosenholm the best arena in the country. It’s going to be an arena where large sporting events, concerts and other gatherings can take place.
Karlskrona also wants to help businessmen and companies. Right now the city has more than 3700 registered companies, and 30 of them have more than 100 employees each.
