Fun & Culture

Music
Karlskrona is a wonderful town for people who are interested in culture. At Konserthusteatern you can watch concerts and theatre by for instance Karlskronas Riksteaterförening, a theatre association in Karlskrona. Konserthusteatern was built in 1939, but changes have been done since then. At the moment there are 716 seats.
In the summertime music dominates in the city. Two festivals are held yearly: Lyckå Chamber Music Festival and Carlscrona Chamber Music Festival.
The chamber music is instrumental, with instruments as violins, piano and wind instruments. The difference between chamber music and an orchestra is that in chamber music you don’t use a conductor. Although the chamber music mostly is entirely instrumental, you hear a little singing at the festivals.

Theatre

If you’d like a smaller place with less people, but still good entertainment, Sparresalen is the right theatre for you. It has 236 seats and a nice and relaxed environment. Here too you can see shows by Karlskronas Riksteaterförening.

Festivals & Events

Karlskrona Days, with music, good food and events for both grown-ups and children or Sail Karlskrona in August, when people can get a ride on the big sailboats that come from Sweden, Germany, Poland and Denmark, are few example of towns rich cultural summer.

Other attractions

At seven places in Blekinge you can find rock-carvings from Bronze Age (1800-500 BC), and none of them are very far from Karlskrona. Rock-carvings are pictures and symbols that people carved out in rocks and mountains. Many of the carvings in Blekinge depicture ships, like those in Horsahallen (Hästhallen). If you’re interested in historical culture and on a visit in Karlskrona, don’t miss these masterpieces that are about 3000 years old.
